Production Batch

Production sites within your supply chain may manufacture products in batches. This will reduce the production cost and the production time of a single product unit.

In this table you define the production time and the cost of the production batch by specifying the required batch size with the price and production time for a single product unit.

If a production site manufactures a product in batches, its Production batch parameters override the Production parameters.

Column Description

Source

Defines the batch production site. The source may be a single factory or a group of factories defined by the user.

The cell contains a list of production sites previously defined in the DCs and Factories, and Groups tables).

Product

Defines the product the batch consists of.

The cell contains a list of products (previously defined in the Products table) products.

Type

Defines how the size of the batch is calculated:

  • Exact — the batch size is explicitly specified in the Batch size column.

  • Starts From — the batch size may exceed the size specified in the Batch size column. If you want to allow only batches of certain sizes, you can define the batch size increment (Step size). In this case, a product can be produced in batches of the size that equals to: Batch size + N * Step size.
For example, if the Batch size is set to 20 and the Step size is set to 5, the possible production batch sizes are 20, 25, 30, and so on.

Batch Size

Here you define the desired batch size.

If the Type option is set to Exact, it defines the batch size (the quantity of product items composing the batch).

If the Type option is set to Starts from, the Batch size defines the minimum batch size (that can be exceeded with the specified Step size).

Step Size

[The value is applied only if the Starts from parameter is selected in the Type column.]

Defines the items amount that will be added to the batch in case the minimum Batch size is exceeded.

Round Up to Batch

[Disabled by default] If enabled, the production site will instantly produce a batch of the specified size (Batch Size) for any incoming order.

E.g. The incoming demand is 250 items, the Batch size is 1000 items. The manufacturing site will instantly produce 1000 items. If the incoming demand is 1001 items, the manufacturing site will instantly produce 2000 items.

Production Cost (per unit)

Here you can define the production cost of a single product unit within the batch.

Production Cost (per batch)

Shows the automatically calculated production cost of the batch (Batch size multiplied by Production cost (per unit)). The value cannot be modified manually. You can change the batch production cost by modifying other parameters of this table.

Currency

The type of currency used to express the Production Cost (per unit) and the Production Cost (per batch).

Production Time (per unit)

Defines the time (in the specified Time Unit) spent on production of a single product unit within the batch.

Production Time (per batch)

Shows the automatically calculated time (in the specified Time Unit) spent on production of the batch (Batch size multiplied by Production time (per unit)). The value cannot be modified manually. You can change the batch production time by modifying other parameters of this table.

Time Unit

Specify the time unit that the Production Time (per unit) and Production Time (per batch) is expressed in.

The list of available units comprises the units defined in the Manage units dialog.

Time Period

The time period during which products will be produced in batches.

The cell contains a list of periods (previously defined in the Periods table).
